Although digital revolution has pervaded almost every part of daily life, cities remained seemingly analogue and furthermore inhabitants are mostly excluded from the digital layer.

Every lamp consists of components that can be arranged in the most flexible way. Maintenance is easy through interchangeable components.
This concept can contribute to a safer city: The projections on the street's surface interact with every pedestrian to protect everyone from the dangers of motorized traffic.
To ensure the protection of every pedestrian's privacy the lamp's CPU only interacts with lamps in the inner neighborhood. No central data collection is enabled.
Every city is different: Through the modular concept it is possible to customize every individual lamp to the specific needs of the regarded traffic situation.
The science project "Stadt der Zukunft/Hybrid City Lighting (HCL)" was part of the master's course Design Interaktiver Medien (DIM) and Medieninformatik (MIM) at Furtwangen University. A team with six members was founded under supervision of Prof. Dr. Matthias Wölfel to develop a concept for intelligent street lighting in future cities.
Now we want to continue to enlight the streets in the city of tomorrow.
